Author Guidelines

Detailed descriptions for preparing and submitting manuscripts are provided on the our FOR AUTHORS page. Please follow those closely in order to enable optimal support from the editorial team and the selected reviewers.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. We ensured that their submission matches the overall focus and scope of IJSDIR.
  2. We accept the following conditions: (i) the paper reports unpublished work, (ii) the paper is not been submitted to any other journal, (iii) the author(s) has full authority to submit the work for publication. We also accept that, papers previously published through another publisher, either in a literal or approximate form, cannot normally be accepted.
  3. This article is provided in electronic format and adheres to the Article Formatting Requirements. All artwork, graphics, photographs, etc. are embedded in the document at the appropriate place in the text.
  4. We consulted the Guidelines for Reviewers in order to understand the review process and the criteria against which a judgment will be made.
  5. We indicate which Creative Commons license applies to the article e.g. "Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives" (by-nc-nd). We also ensured that they have the right to use any graphic embedded in the article, and that appropriate citation of rights is made - if necessary.
  6. We are aware that, unless otherwise specified, the IJSDIR assumes that the authors do not wish to remain anonymous and will handle the review process openly, including open posting of the article on the Journal’s website. In this way, the work of authors may be made available to the scientific community as quickly as possible. We are also informed that the journal is not obligated to post the article on its web site but if such a posting is made, we agree that we are fully responsible for the material contained in such initial submissions.
  7. We are know that, if we absolutely wish to remain anonymous during the review process, we MUST clearly say so at the time of submission by including the following comment to the editor below “We wish to remain anonymous during the review process!” If this is the case, the articles are submitted to the reviewers as anonymous submissions, and the article is NOT posted on the journal web site.
  8. We are aware that the IJSDIR has no objection to the posting of a submitted article on a university, government or non-profit organization web site with our permission while the article is being peer reviewed by the Journal. We know that, in such a case, the following statement must be inserted at the top of the article: "Work in Progress - under peer review by the International Journal of Spatial Data Infrastructures Research (IJSDIR). Consult https://ijsdir.sadl.kuleuven.be for the current status of the review."
 

Copyright Notice

Authors publishing on IJSDIR retain full but non-exclusive rights in their articles, and are required to use one of the Creative Commons licenses when submitting their work () e.g. "Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives" (by-nc-nd).

 

Privacy Statement

1. Description.

The International Journal for Spatial Data Infrastructures (IJSDIR) website offers registration for submitting papers to the on-line Journal. IJSDIR is a peer-reviewed journal published exclusively on line by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The aim of the Journal is to further the scientific endeavor underpinning the development, implementation and use of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). As this processing collects and further processes personal data, Regulation (EC) 45/2001, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data, is applicable.

2. What personal information do we collect, what is the legal basis, for what purpose and through which technical means?

Identification Data: the personal data collected and further processed are - the author name, address, telephone number, Fax number, e-mail address and short bio are collected. An access code is assigned at registration for managing the submission.

Legal Basis of processing: (i) The European Parliament and Council Decision of 27 June 2002 on the EC 6th Research Framework Programme (FP6) (2002-2006); and (ii) The European Parliament and Council Decision of 18 Dec. 2006 on the EC 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7) (2007-2013).

Purpose of processing: The purpose of the processing of personal data for the e-Service is to allow us to manage the paper submission and to publish in the journal. Author names are published in the journal.

Technical Information: The user data are collected through web forms and stored inside a SQL database.

3. Who has access to your information and to whom is it disclosed?

The possibility to access, update or erase the above personal data is only granted through User_Id / Password to a defined population of users. These users are: the managers of the journal or system administrators of the software used. This information is not shared with any other e-service or person.

4. How do we protect and safeguard your information?

The collected personal data is stored on the servers of JRC and underlie the Commission Decision C (2006) 3602 of 17/08/2006 “concerning the security of information systems used by the European Commission” which defines IT security measures in force. Annex I defines the security requirements of EC Information Systems. Annex II defines the different actors and their responsibilities. Annex III defines the rules applicable by users. 5. How can you verify, modify or delete your information?

6. How long do we keep your data?

The data is stored for the duration of the project.
